Leccio Monferrato Chiaretto
A delicious Chiaretto from the heart of Piemonte which is sure to give any hardened Francophile a compelling alternative. Made primarily from Pinot Noir, this is fresh with plenty of crunchy red summer fruit character.
Grapes were sourced from the Quercia vineyard at Il Cascinone, which produces some of the freshest, most fragrant Pinot Noir on the estate. Pinot Noir was harvested at the start of September, and Barbera in the 3rd week of September. The grapes were cool-fermented separately at 16ºC. After around 5 months on lees the parcels were blended a month before bottling.
Pretty pale pink in colour. The nose is lifted with cherry, raspberry and gently floral notes. The palate balances tangy cherry and red berry fruit with crisp, incisive acidity. A delicious style of pale rosé which has plenty of summer fruit character balanced by great texture.
A good match with basil and goats cheese risotto, or pasta with a seafood sauce and cherry tomatoes.
